Join us every Tuesday for music and fun. We meet every Tuesday (if you are new, call first as time and place are subject to change) at 10:00 in the community room of the Payson Public Library, but arrive early to meet new friends, and to tune up your ukulele! We begin by playing easy songs - most requiring only two or three easy chords. Later, we ratchet things up just a little bit, playing songs mostly using three to six chords. All you need to get started is a ukulele and a desire to meet new friends. Although this group doesn't provide lessons, there are plenty to be found on the Internet, and you will find links to get you started on this web site.
Also, Quigtone Music in Payson has ukulele instructors for a fee.
Well, what are you waiting for? Ukuleles can be purchased over the Internet, or right here in town from Quigtone Music! Soprano ukuleles can be bought for as little as $20 over the Internet. There are four basic sizes: Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone. If you are a beginner, you will probably want to opt for one of the first three. If you play the guitar, you might consider a baritone. Call or just show up to one of our Tuesday sessions to learn more about choosing a ukulele.
Learning to play the ukulele is easy, and you can be playing simple songs in just a few minutes. Unlike a guitar, a ukulele has only four strings - to match the four fingers on your left hand. You simply press the strings against the fretboard with your left hand and strum with the index finger of your right hand. It is that simple. Some often-used chords require only one finger!
So get yourself a ukulele and see for yourself how easy it is to play. Then join us for the merriment!
